We Built It - Republican's theme for Tuesday night in Tampa We Built It - Tampa Bay Times Forum at dusk
by Joseph Earnest August 28, 2012 Newscast Media TAMPA, Fla—As the Republicans officially kick off their convention on Tuesday, the theme will be, "We Built It", a phrase refuting Barack Obama's argument that successful people did not build their success, rather, someone else did it for them.
Several prominent Republicans will be addressing the nation including: Speaker of the House, John Boehner; Reince Priebus Chairman, Republican National Committee; Hon. Kelly Ayote, U.S. Senator (NH); John Kasich, Ohio Governor; Hon. Mary Fallin, Oklahoma Governor; Hon. Bob McDonnell, Virginia Governor; Scott Walker, Wisconsin Governor; Rick Santorum, Ted Cruz, Gov. Nikki Haley, Gov. Chris Christie, Ann Romney and many, many more. Tampa by night - A view of downtown Tampa from across Tampa Bay Times Forum New Jersey-born tenor Philip Alongi Jr., will perform the National Anthem, reprising his role from the 2008 convention. Former Montana Gov. Tim M. Babcock and Korean War Marine veteran Tom Hogan will open Tuesday’s convention with the Pledge of Allegiance. Rev. Sammy Rodriguez of Sacramento, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, will lead the closing benediction. Rev. Rodriguez is an ordained Assemblies of God minister and serves as senior pastor of New Season Christian Worship Center in Sacramento.
Speaker John Boehner will make roll call of the states The 2012 Republican National Convention will be held at the Tampa Bay Times Forum August 27-30, 2012. Nearly 50,000 visitors are expected to come to the Tampa Bay area for the event, including delegates, alternate delegates, media and other guests.
