Ann Romney's request at Republican National Convention by Joseph Earnest August 29, 2012 Newscast Media TAMPA, Fla—Presidential candidate Mitt Romney's wife made her speech on Tuesday night amidst a thunderous applause of GOP admirers. The speech was also well-received by political analysts, and was not centered around politics or the party, but on love. "Tonight I want to talk to you about love.
I want to talk to you
about the deep and abiding love I have for a man I met at a dance many
years ago. And the profound love I have, and I know we share, for this
country. I want to talk to you about that love so deep only a
mother can fathom it —the love we have for our children and our
children's children," she said. In regard to her husband, Ann Romney said, "This is the man America needs. This is the man who will wake up every day with the determination to solve the problems that others say can't be solved, to fix what others say is beyond repair. This is the man who will work harder than anyone so that we can work a little less hard. I can't tell you what will happen over the next four years. But I can only stand here tonight, as a wife, a mother, a grandmother, an American, and make you this solemn commitment: This man will not fail. This man will not let us down. This man will lift up America!" Mrs. Romney then made a request as she ended her speech: "You can trust Mitt. He loves America. He will take us to a better place, just as he took me home safely from that dance. Give him that chance. Give America that chance. God bless each of you and God Bless the United States of America," she concluded.
