Kerry and Iranian Foreign Minister Begin Nuclear Talks
by Joseph Earnest May 30, 2015
Newscast Media GENEVA—Secretary of State John Kerry and his Iranian counterpart, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, have begun talks in Geneva meant to pave the way for a comprehensive nuclear agreement by the end of June. The talks follow a preliminary deal reached April 2 between Iran and the "P5+1"— grouping the U.S., China, Russia, France, Britain, and Germany on the outlines of an agreement to end a long-running dispute over Iran's nuclear program. U.S. officials said they expect talks leading to the June 30 deadline to be "intense" but vowed to "keep the pressure on Iran" to agree to changes that would put a nuclear bomb beyond Iran's reach. In return, the P5+1 group would agree to lift painful economic sanctions. Add Comments>> Source: Radio Free Europe
