Toyota recalls 1.9 million Prius cars due to hybrid faulty system
by Joseph Earnest February 12, 2014
Newscast Media TOKYO—Japan's Toyota Motor Corp. said it is recalling about 1.9 million units of the Prius hybrid model worldwide due to a fault with the hybrid system, local media reported Wednesday. According to Japan's Kyodo News, the recalled vehicles were made between March 2009 to February 2014, of which nearly 997,000 units were sold in Japan, some 900,000 overseas, mostly in North America. The company said in a report filed with the transport ministry that the hybrid system may be disabled and the vehicle would lose speed or stop suddenly due to a control software problem. The problem has not led to an accident by far, said the country's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Add Comments>>
