Supreme Court permits the sale of GM seeds before safety tests are done Joseph Ernest June 22, 2010
Newscast Media -- The Supreme Court has overturned the ban on the sale of genetically modified alfalfa seeds and has cleared they way for Mosanto to sell them even before safety tests have been conducted. .
The seeds are used for cattle feed and this particular brand is resistant to Mosanto's weed killer. Organic farmers and advocacy groups have argued that the genetically modified seed could cross-pollinate and contaminate the naturally grown alfalfa. Mosanto dismissed those fears as unfounded.
