Riots continue across Uganda as Bobi Wine arrested by Uganda's dictator Museveni

by Joseph Earnest, November 19, 2020

Newscast Media KAMPALA, Uganda—As presidential candidate Bobi Wine (Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu) was conducting a rally in Luuka, Busoga region, orders were issued by his antagonist Yoseri Museveni for his arrest. Wine has become a big threat to Museveni and his corrupt regime, because the 38-year-old's message seems to be resonating with the people of Uganda.

Museveni has been in power for 35 years and the country has nothing to show for it except tribalism and nepotism that the current regime is famous for. Unqualified people have been put in places of responsibility and have misappropriated funds, making Uganda the third poorest country in the world, according to Focus Economics.

According to CNN, over 16 unarmed civilians have been killed by the police since the arrest of Bobi Wine on November 18, 2020.

On Thursday morning, the BBC saw members of the security forces entering shopping malls in Kampala's city centre to chase people out, or firing tear gas inside to flush them out. Traders and their customers were pouring out in the hundreds with their hands in the air.

Museveni told a rally in Karamoja region that the protesters were “being used by outsiders … homosexuals and others who don’t like the stability and independence of Uganda. But they will discover what they are looking for. We shall not tolerate confused people. They are playing with fire”, according to the Guardian.

Currently, Bobi Wine is being held in a safehouse called Nalufeenya, and it is suspected that Kyagulanyi might be given a slow-killing poison to extinguish his life before the January 14, 2021 election. Kyagulanyi has cheated death numerous times. Wine has been denied medical assistance and attorneys by the regime. Add Comments >>
