Ted Cruz no longer on cruise control--announces candidacy U.S. Senator and 2016 presidential candidate Ted Cruz—Photo by Joseph Earnest

Newscast Media HOUSTON—It seems like yesterday when Ted Cruz was celebrating his election victory in 2012. Having followed Cruz, a Houston lawyer by profession for the past few years, it was inevitable that he would eventually throw his hat in the ring and run for president. He is the first candidate to announce his 2016 presidential bid.
With
heavyweights like Jeb Bush, Rick Perry, Scott Walker and Chris Christie
lurking in the shadows, it appears Cruz is in for a wild ride as he embarks
on his White House undertaking. "Today, I am running for president. It is time for truth, it is time for liberty," Cruz announced at Liberty University. What makes Cruz unique is that he doesn't mince words. You never have to second-guess him on any issue. There are no ambiguities with him, just like Obama was unapologetically Liberal and was embraced by the left. "I believe in you and the power of millions of courageous Conservatives rising up to re-ignite the promise of America, and that is why today I am announcing that I'm running for president of the United States," Cruz said at the Christian university today. The problem with Conservatives is they have been trying to paint themselves as moderates in order to attract both Conservatives and Liberal, but it hasn't worked for them. Either one is utterly Conservative or Liberal, or else one comes across as inauthentic. Click here for a retrospective of Cruz's political journey: PHOTOS (pop-up) No doubt Ted Cruz is going to be trolled now that he has made his intentions clear. Opposition research teams that essentially dig dirt on candidates, now have their noses to the grindstone to make sure Cruz doesn't get traction.
