Cornel West: Black analysts on MSNBC have sold their souls
by Joseph Earnest November 13, 2012
Newscast Media PRINCETON—He is known as one of Barack Obama's most vocal critics. Cornel West, a professor at Princeton University also has some harsh words for MSNBC's black commentators Al Sharpton, Melissa Harris-Perry, and Michael Eric Dyson Friday.
About Obama, Mr. West said, "Well, one, I think that it’s morally obscene and spiritually profane to spend $6 billion on an election, $2 billion on a presidential election, and not have any serious discussion—poverty, trade unions being pushed against the wall dealing with stagnating and declining wages when profits are still up and the 1 percent are doing very well, no talk about drones dropping bombs on innocent people. So we end up with such a narrow, truncated political discourse, as the major problems—ecological catastrophe, climate change, global warming. So it’s very sad."
West also referred to Obama as a "Rockefeller Republican in blackface." However, West's assessment of Obama is flawed, because Obama is a Liberal with communist tendencies, as demonstrated in his first presidential term that he squandered.
For example, liberals believe in big government, Republicans believe in decreasing the size of government. Liberals believe marriage is between a man and a man, or woman and woman, Republicans believe marriage is between a man and woman. Liberals believe it is the government's responsibility to take care of them, Republicans believe in entrepreneurship and discourage dependence on government. Liberals believe government creates jobs, while Republicans believe small businesses are fundamental to job creation. Liberals believe paying high taxes is a good thing, while Republicans believe lowering taxes is better, since it puts money back into taxpayers' pockets.
