Newscast Media PARIS—Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's wife says Swiss forensic tests show that Arafat was poisoned to death in 2004 with radioactive polonium.

Suha Arafat said on November 6 that her husband's death was "a political assassination."

A team of experts opened Arafat's grave in the West Bank city of Ramallah last year to remove samples of his body to test for alleged poisoning.

Suha Arafa was given the Swiss forensic team's report on November 5.

She said "we have scientific proof that [Arafat] was killed."

Suha Arafat did not accuse anyone of poisoning her husband and said the longtime leader of the Palestine Liberation Organization had many enemies.

French officials opened an investigation into Arafat's death in 2012.Arafat, who was 75 when he died, claimed to have survived 40 attempts on his life.
