Syrian army making some serious gains in Aleppo's strategic district
by Joseph Earnest October 14, 2013
Newscast Media DAMASCUS—The Syrian army has made major advances in a strategic district of Aleppo city in Northwestern Syria, informed sources said on Monday. "The Syrian army units have made remarkable advances in the Salaheddine district of Aleppo city and they have almost cleaned up the entire area (from militants)," an informed military source told FNA in Damascus on Monday. The source underlined that fierce street clashes between the Syrian troops and the armed rebels are still underway in few parts of the Salaheddine district. Syria's army has recently tightened its grip on areas in the country's center and along the coast and the North-South highways, as well as the capital and its environs. Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against the Syrian police, border guards, statesmen, army and the civilians being reported across the country. Thousands of people have been killed since terrorist and armed groups turned protest rallies into armed clashes. Add Comments>> Source: Fars News Agency
