  The Houston SPCA rescues wounded or abused animals and treats them until they are ready for  adoption.  The slideshow includes Betsy Bear a European brown bear that was rescued from a life of  abuse and cruelty from Gonzales, Texas.  Besty bear underwent successful surgery and was recently  shipped to Romania and released in the wild.  Horses, birds, livestock, dogs, cats, and poultry are  among the many animals that the Houston SPCA rescues, nurses, then puts up for adoption.
