Barack Obama: We are not interested in threatening Russia
by Joseph Earnest June 3, 2014
Newscast Media WARSAW, Poland—President Barack Obama has urged Russia to use its influence to bring the conflict in the Ukraine region to an end. Obama said he is interested in building good relations with Russia and not threatening it.
"We are interested in building good relations with Russia, we are not interested in threatening Russia," Obama said at a press conference during his visit to Poland.
"...But we also believe the principles of territorial integrity have to be respected, but Russia has violated them. We are going to maintain sanctions that are directed at the annexation of Crimea, and that we have prepared economic costs on Russia, that can escalate, if in fact we continue to see Russia actively destabilizing one of its neighbors," Obama added.
