Newscast Media MIAMI—After hinting several times about a possible 2016 presidential run for the White House, Senator Marco Rubio announced on Monday his intention to run for president in the next election.

The 43-year-old senator who is the youngest in the race, made the announcement during a conference call to donors, the New York Time and Associated Press reported.

"The Republican Party, for the first time in a long time, has a chance in this election to be the party of the future," Rubio told his donors,  at the Freedom Tower in Miami. "Just yesterday, we heard from a leader from yesterday who wants to take us back to yesterday, but I feel that this country has always been about tomorrow," he added.

Almost three years ago at the 2012 Republican Convention in Tampa, Florida, Rubio gave a speech, that seemed, in retrospect, as if he was setting the stage for a presidential run.

"America was founded on the principle that every person has God-given rights," Rubio told his audience. "That power belongs to the people. That government exists to protect our rights and serve our interests.

"That we shouldn't be trapped in the circumstances of our birth. That we should be free to go as far as our talents and work can take us. We are special because we've been united not by a common race or ethnicity. We're bound together by common values. That family is the most important institution in society. That almighty God is the source of all we have.

"Our national motto is "In God we Trust," reminding us that faith in our Creator is the most important American value of all. We are a blessed people. And we have honored those blessings with the enduring example of an exceptional America."

Earlier this spring, Senator Ted Cruz, and Senator Rand Paul announced their intentions to run for the presidency.  Marco Rubio, a Floridian, will have to split his votes with former Florida Governor Jeb Bushshould Bush decide to enter the presidential race.
