  The Houston Livestock show and Rodeo take place every year at the Reliant Center.  The Rodeo takes  place at Reliant Stadium and is often preceded by live concerts.  The livestock show features sheep,  cattle, goats, and several other farm animals including a petting zoo for the kids.  The slideshow  contains highlights of the event.
