GOP Promises To Repeal Healthcare Bill In Pledge To America
by Joseph Ernest September 23, 2010
Newscast Media -- In an effort to gain seats in both the House and Senate, the GOP has promised to bring an end to a number of Democratic policies and restore Americans' trust in the government. With the "Pledge to America" Republicans are pledging to take back the country, restore a better future, slash taxes and spending, as well as repeal Barack Obama's healthcare law and end his stimulus program.
House Republicans unveiled their 21-page document they say will guide them and help them reclaim the majority of seats in the November midterm elections.
The Tea Party has undeniably had an impact on the way the GOP conducts politics, and many incumbents realize that ignoring their constituents comes with a price. The pledge is a move by the GOP to prove to the grassroots that they are now paying attention.
Democrats have dismissed the "Pledge to America" as recycled ideas that would worsen the nation's crisis. Nadeam Elshami, a spokesman for Nancy Pelosi said, "Republicans want to return to the same failed economic policies that hurt millions of Americans and threatened our economy."
