Sarah Palin delivers speech at Restoring Honor rally
by Joseph Ernest August 28, 2010
Newscast Media Washington D.C. --On the 47th anniversary of Martin Luther King's 'I Have A Dream' speech, TV host and radio personality Glenn Beck kicked off the much anticipated "Restoring Honor" rally with former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, at the Lincoln Memorial on Saturday.
"America today begins to turn back to God," Beck told the mostly conservative crowd, as they cheered throughout his speech.
In her speech, Sarah Palin proclaimed how proud she was to have raised a combat veteran, who happens to be her son, and stressed the need to support the troops as well as take care of them and their families when they return home.
Palin said, "I must assume that you too, knowing that we must not fundamentally transform America as some would want, we must restore America, and restore her honor." She continued her speech by saying, "Now, I've been asked to speak today, not as a politician, no, something more. Something much more. I've been asked to speak as the mother of a soldier, and I am proud of that distinction. You know, say what you wanna say about me, but I raised a combat vet, and you can't take that away from me."
In his weekly radio/Internet address Saturday, Obama said: "Our nation’s commitment to all who wear its uniform is a sacred trust that is as old as our republic … a moral obligation to uphold." Add Comments>>
