Newscast Media HOUSTON—Having been pounded by torrential rains for several hours, the Bayou City's bayous filled almost to the brim as they held back flood waters to prevent flooding. However, the leftover rain from the storms that hit Mexico last week, have turned Houston's Harris County into a disaster relief area. The City of Houston has confirmed a fourth fatality in conjunction with today's stormy weather. The initial fatality was a male of unknown age discovered at Ranchester at Harwin. A second deceased 50-year old female was recovered by Houston Police Department helicopter from Braes Bayou near the 5400 block of Ardmore. A third deceased person was found in a vehicle, which was towed from the 1700 block of Studewood. The fourth deceased person was found in Braes Bayou at Holcomb Blvd and was an Asian Male of unknown age. Their is a high likelihood that the Asian male is the same Asian male that was lost during the water rescue early this morning where the evacuation boat capsized. Deutsche Welle reported that President Barack Obama has told Texas Governor Greg Abbott that the federal government would be available to help with recovery after the floods.
The continuous rain and flooding happened so quickly, some motorists abandoned their vehicles in traffic as they sought higher ground. The vehicles have since been towed away by the City of Houston, but can be recovered by the owners at FindMyTowedCar Website. (pop-up) or by calling (713) 308-8580. Houston residents have been asked by the mayor to remain in their homes until the water recedes. Add Comments>>
