Gov. Greg Abbott easily wins re-election over Lupe Valdez
by Joseph Earnest November 7, 2018
Newscast Media AUSTIn, Texas—Texas Governor Greg Abbott easily defeated his opponent Lupe Valdez the Democratic challenger. Valdez is a former sheriff who was running as the first openly lesbian Latina candidate for governor.
Republicans have strengthened their grip on all statewide offices since 1994, including the governor's mansion. Abbott, just like Rick Perry and George W. Bush, handily won his re-election, with the polls showing he had 55.6 percent of the vote to Valdez's 42.1 percent. Add Comments >>
