Media --Fabio Capello, England's manager has said that David Beckham's international
career is over, after an ankle injury ended the midfielder's dreams of playing
in the World Cup. Despite being part of Capello's backroom team in
South Africa, it does not seem like there will be a place for Beckham when
England embarks on qualifying for Euro 2012.
After spending much of his career in the spotlight, it seems like a very low-key end to Beckham's international career, but fits in with Fabio Capello's no nonsense management style. Story continues below...
With such a disappointing display in South Africa, Capello seems to be looking to the stars of the future as he prepares for Euro 2012 qualifying, with the likes of Jack Wilshere and Kieran Gibbs earning a place in the England squad against Hungary.
With injury preventing him from playing in
South Africa, Beckham was instead asked to be part of England's backroom
staff, and although disappointed by England's exit, the midfielder was
still wholehearted in his support of Capello.
