Newscast Media CARACAS—Venezuelan Vice President Nicolas Maduro said President Hugo Chavez was recovering after receiving “successful” surgery in Havana, Cuba. Maduro said in statement broadcast on state television that the surgery was complicated and lasted six hours, however, Chavez had been transferred to a different room to recover and receive special treatment.
Chavez also received support from Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa who visited Havana to show solidarity toward the Venezuelan president.
On Twitter, Correa wrote: “Chavez is in great spirits. He gives strength to all!”
