Newscast Media HOUSTON, Texas—As we ring in the new year, we will take a look at
the Texaplex, and why it is so fascinating. The Texaplex is made up of Houston,
Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth and San Antonio.
Texas as a state, grosses over $100 billion dollars in trade with foreign nations. If
Texas were a country, it would have the world’s 11th largest economy. Its annual
economic output alone exceeds $1 trillion and still growing. What makes Texas unique
is that most Texans go to school to get an education so they can apply their skills to
create their own jobs or businesses. This makes Texas the United States’ largest
exporter of goods to other nations worldwide.
As for size, the saying is true: “Everything is bigger in Texas.” You could literally fit
the entire world’s population (7 billion people) in Texas, and every single man, woman
and child would enjoy more than 1,100 square feet of space to themselves. The rest
of the world would be empty. What!
The video below highlights why everyone is talking about Texas, the Lone Star State.
INTRODUCTION TO THE TEXAPLEX
Austin, Texas: Is not only an innovator in technology but is also known as the “Live music
capital” of the world. Dallas, Texas: Has the 4th highest concentration of billionaires in the
entire world. San Antonio has the world’s largest marine adventure water park. As for my
beloved city of Houston, it is the world’s energy capital and also leads the world in the
sciences and medical breakthroughs.
Houston is the fourth largest city in the U.S. in terms of population. However, in terms of size,
the city of Houston itself is 600 square miles, and perhaps the largest in the world, enough to
comfortably fit in the cities of Miami, New York, Washington D.C., Boston, San Francisco,
Seattle and Minneapolis. That’s one heckuva monster…and it continues to expand in every direction.
