Algeria’s help sought by US for possible military move in Mali

North Africa

Newscast Media ALGIERS—U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton sought Algeria’s assistance on Monday for any future military intervention in Mali, pressing the North African nation to provide intelligence — if not boots on the ground — to help rout the Al-Qaeda-linked militants across its southern border.

Clinton, on the first stop of a five-day trip overseas, met with Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika as the United States and its allies ramped up preparations to fight northern Mali’s breakaway Islamist republic.

When Mali’s democratically elected leader was ousted in a military coup in March, Tuareg rebels seized on the power vacuum and within weeks took control of the north, aided by an Islamist faction. The Islamists then quickly ousted the Tuaregs and took control of half the country.

The UN Security Council has unanimously approved the idea of an African-led military force to help the Malian army oust Islamic militants, but its details are still unclear. One plan would see Mali’s embattled government in the south and its West African neighbors taking the military lead to battle with the militants, with the United States and European countries in support.

Any military intervention would likely require Algeria, whose reforms have headed off the Arab Spring tumult experienced by neighbors such as Libya and Tunisia and left it with the strongest military and best intelligence in the region.

Clinton said she and Bouteflika spoke at length about Mali, with the Algerian leader appearing to caution against any rash action.

“I very much appreciated the president’s analysis based on his long experience as to the many complicated factors that have to be addressed to deal with the internal insecurity in Mali and the terrorist and drug trafficking threat that is posed to the region and beyond,” Clinton told reporters.

She said they agreed to continue discussions with the UN and African nations “to determine the most effective approaches that we should be taking.”

Washington is keen to eliminate northern Mali as a haven for Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, which may have been involved in September’s attack on the U.S. Consulate in the Libyan city of Benghazi. Mali even came up in the U.S. election campaign, with Republican challenger Mitt Romney citing the African nation’s instability in a foreign policy debate with President Barack Obama.

As further evidence of the U.S. intensifying its diplomatic work in Mali, Maria Otero, an undersecretary of state for civilian security, democracy and human rights, was to travel to Mali on Monday.

The 15-nation West African regional bloc, the Economic Community of West African States, or ECOWAS, has discussed sending 3,000 troops to help oust the Islamist militants from the north. Many, though, question how Mali’s weak military could take the lead on such an intervention and analysts believe more ECOWAS soldiers would be needed to take and hold the France-sized desert area now controlled by the militants.

While the U.S. wants to see the rebels routed, it has no interest in active involvement in the military mission, unless Mali and West African states explicitly ask for such assistance, a senior American diplomat in Africa said. The official demanded anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to speak publicly on the matter. From Algeria, Clinton left for three days of talks in the Balkans, arriving Monday night in the Bosnian capital of Sarajevo.

Moscow: The removal of Assad will not solve Syrian crisis

Assad and Putin

Newscast Media MOSCOW—The The removal of President Bashar al-Assad from power will do nothing to end the 19-month civil war in Syria but will only escalate the violence, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Wednesday.

“It is like daydreaming to speculate on the subject, to the effect that if the [Syrian] government is overthrown everything will fall into place,” Lavrov said after a meeting with his French counterpart Laurent Fabius.

“If this is a priority for somebody, bloodshed will continue, and for quite a while, too.”

“Assad’s fate should be decided by the Syrian people,” he added.

There is no military solution to the Syrian conflict as mercenaries fighting on the side of the Syrian insurgents keep arriving in the country from neighboring states, the minister noted.

Lavrov said on Monday Moscow was disappointed by the failure of a United Nations-brokered ceasefire, but there was little sense in blaming either side.

Western powers have condemned both Russia and China for their repeated refusal to back UN sanctions against Assad’s regime, which the United Nations has accused of complicity in the massacre of unarmed civilians. Russia says the UN resolutions contain a pro-rebel bias and that both sides are to blame for the continued fighting, which Syrian rights groups say has claimed up to 35,000 lives.

Russian President Vladimir Putin vowed earlier this year not to allow a repeat of last year’s “Libya scenario,” which saw the ouster and murder of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi after a NATO military campaign.

Pt.3 Ambassador Christopher Stevens –dead men tell no tales

Honoring our military

Newscast Media WASHINGTON, D.C—The Iran-Contra scandal that happened under Ronald Reagan facilitated the illegal sale of weapons to Iran covertly. It became one of the biggest political scandals since the inception of the nation, after the operation turned into an arms-for-hostages exchange undertaking.

Weapons abandoned by Gaddafi were under surveillance in Libya at all times, since the US knew they could fall in the hands of the bad guys if left unmonitored. The CIA had an operation there because it was reported that former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods was at the CIA annex about an hour away from where Chris Stevens came under attack.

A few months before the attack, the Free Syrian Army (FSA) had requested more weapons because it had come under heavy fire in Aleppo and was forced to retreat. France, that had previously supported rebels under Sarkozy, reversed itself and refused to send any more weapons to the Syrian rebels.

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius told France’s Europe-1 radio, “Rebel backers Qatar, Saudi Arabia and others are sending arms to the rebels . We Europeans decided on an arms embargo. We are not going to contradict our own positions.”

“America and Europe just talk, talk, talk, but no one helps,” said Abu Mohammad, an FSA commander in Aleppo who supplies his men with the homemade grenades. “There have been promises from other countries to provide us with arms, but no one has helped us,” reported the Christian Science Monitor.

As we saw in Pt.2 there were fighters identified as Libyans in Syria, and Chris Stevens was the bridge between the US and the opposition. The FSA’s requests for weapons were finally responded to and there is indication that arrangements were being made to ship the weapons to Syria via Turkey. Intending to funnel weapons only to what the US perceived as the “good guys” namely the Free Syrian Army, word must have inadvertently reached the “bad guys” namely al-Qaeda, that they had been left out of the party. Al-Qaeda did not take this too kindly. They had spilled their blood for the sake of the West, and were willing to risk their lives in Syria, and wondered, “Is this how the West pays us back, by snubbing us?”

Benghazi would be the place they got revenge. We know this because the attack had been pre-planned months ahead of time. On September 11, witnesses saw about 150 bearded armed men setting up roadblocks, and sealing off street leading to the US Consulate in Benghazi. Interestingly enough, no US embassy in Benghazi is listed on the list of US embassies, because there is only one US embassy in Libya, and it is in Tripoli. Nevertheless, the trucks of the gunmen bore the logo of Ansar al-Shariah, a powerful local group of Islamist militants, according to the Miami Herald.

The only logical reason al-Qaeda would get involved in such an operation points to taking Chris Stevens hostage, and then making a deal similar to the Iran-Contra deal, by swapping Chris Stevens in exchange for a portion of the weapons that was supposed to be delivered to FSA. According to FOX News, CIA chain of command told the CIA operators twice to “stand down” rather than help the ambassador’s team when shots were heard at approximately 9:40 p.m. in Benghazi on Sept. 11. There were also two drones with live video feeds of the attacks.

U.S. officials argue that there was a period of several hours when the fighting stopped before the mortars were fired at the annex, leading officials to believe the attack was over. Bingo! The only reason there was a period of several hours when fighting stopped, also points to a negotiation taking place, between the gunmen who were holding Stevens hostage and those who had access to the intel being fed to them by the military surveillance drones.

For McCain to mention there was a cover-up, is as a result of putting two and two together based on what happened in the Iran-Contra deal, and most recently the Fast and Furious scandal when the government sold weapons to Mexican drug lords covertly. It would therefore make sense to a military man like McCain to suspect the same was happening in the Stevens case, which would be an enormous scandal that not even the media could protect Obama from.

It was reported that at around 4am, the compound’s building in which Stevens had taken refuge, was hit by mortar fire which killed agents Doherty and Woods. Stevens was not seen by the security team again until his body was delivered to the airport. Officials said, and they still do know how he reached the Libyan hospital where attempts were made to revive him. He obviously did not grow wings, so we can deduce that it was al-Qaeda that dropped his body off at the hospital after a possible failure to secure a weapons deal from the cache that was en route to Syria.

Finally, to conclude this three-part series, we have to place the weapons in Syria. The Russians knew all along that weapons were headed to Syria to be used against Assad. In order to protect their interests in Syria, the Russians have been providing weapons to the Syrian government. Ruslan Pukhov, the Russian defense analyst and director of the Moscow-based Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies, said, “Russia doesn’t see any problems selling weapons to Syria if the CIA and French and British secret services are shipping military hardware via Turkey to the rebels, including the Islamists,” in this video interview with the BBC.

Arab news network Al Arabia reported early in August that surface-to-air missiles, particularly MANPADs,(man-portable air-defense systems), had been supplied to the rebels to help oust Assad.

The New York Times also reported that weapons, including automatic rifles, rocket-propelled grenades, ammunition and some anti-tank weapons, were being funneled mostly across the Turkish border by way of a shadowy network of intermediaries including Syria’s Muslim Brotherhood.

Further evidence reveals that there was squabbling between al-Qaeda and FSA in regard to who got what weapons. FOX News has evidence that a Libyan-flagged vessel reportedly carrying weapons named Al Entisar, which means “The Victory,” was received in the Turkish port of Iskenderun — 35 miles from the Syrian border — on Sept. 6, just five days before Ambassador Chris Stevens, information management officer Sean Smith and former Navy Seals Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty were killed during an extended assault by more than 100 Islamist militants.

Quoting The Times of London, Syria News Agency verified that over 400 tons of cargo included “SAM-7 surface-to-air anti-craft missiles and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs).” Abu Mohammad, who told The Times that he “helped to move the shipment from warehouses to the border” said “this is the largest single delivery of assistance” the gunmen have so far received.

We have determined why Stevens was sent to Libya, and have been able to place both the Libyan rebels and the cache of weapons in Syria. John McCain’s theory is the only legitimate one of all four, since there has been silence in this administration as to what really happened and why it happened.

Tying all the loose ends together, it is safe to say, based on the available evidence, Chris Stevens was an unintended victim of extortion who was taken hostage by the very people he helped overthrow Gaddafi. The deal went wrong after the militant al-Qaeda could not reach a consensus with the person in charge of the negotiations. The cover-up benefits the parties who gave the order to stand down, since they do not have to take responsibility or stand trial for the lives that were lost.

Should Romney win the election, he will have access to all the intel, and in 2016 if Hillary Clinton attempts to re-run for the presidency, this currently-sealed information could be used as a trump card by the GOP, to “swift boat” her.

Pt.2 Ambassador Chris Stevens–The Benghazi cover-up

John McCain

Newscast Media WASHINGTON, D.C—”I don’t know if it’s either a cover-up or the worst kind of incompetence, which doesn’t qualify the president as commander in chief,” John McCain said on “Face the Nation” on Sunday, as published by CBS News in this article.

While some might think McCain is on a “wild goose chase”, there seems to be a method to his madness. We should therefore consider and explore the cover-up as the fourth theory.

The question this journalist must now confront is, “What is the cover-up?”

During the civil war that eventually led to the overthrow of Libya’s Col. Gaddafi, it was reported that his immense cache of weapons that he had accumulated over decades went missing.

“All of Libya is a grand arms bazaar,” said Mr. Peter Bouckaert, who said it appeared that SA-14 and SA-7 missiles had also been taken.

Speaking to the BBC from Tripoli, Mr. Bouckaert said the rebels had no use for SAMs anymore, given that there was no longer a threat from the air, but that they were still going missing – and were often the first to go.

“It begs the question – why are these being so sought out?” He asked, according to the BBC.

In Part 1 we settled the question regarding how Stevens found himself in Benghazi, now we have to link the al-Qaeda rebels to him, before we can answer the question of the cover-up.

During the uprising, Libyan rebel commander Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi, admitted in an interview with Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore that members of Al Qaeda whom he referred to as “good Muslims” were fighting with the rebels in Libya.

It’s the reason Gaddafi called them “rats” because his intel identified al-Qaeda elements amongst the rebels.

We also know that they were al-Qaeda rebels fighting, because after Benghazi had been overriden they flew the al-Qaeda flag above the Benghazi courthouse.

After Gaddafi was overthrown, these same rebels began occupying Benghazi, and we saw earlier that Chris Stevens was sent as a liaison to the Libyan opposition. We’ve also determined, based on the rebel commander Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi’s interview, that al-Qaeda was among the opposition. We have therefore established a link between al-Qaeda and Chris Stevens the “liaison” as described by Hillary. We should now take this a step further and ask, “How would the rebels and the US benefit from each other, since Stevens was sent to create a bridge between the two?”

In order to answer that question, we also have to also answer the question above posed to the BBC by Mr. Peter Bouckaert, who asked, “Why are these weapons (SA-14 and SA-7 missiles) being sought out? The answer will help us hit two birds with one stone.

The first question has to do with how the US would benefit from creating a bridge between Stevens and opposition, and the answer is, they (the opposition) were the ones who would be used as pawns to fight the war in Syria in exchange for the US helping remove Gaddafi—Without outside intervention, the rebels could not do it by themselves.

The second question by Mr. Bouckart as to why the SA-14 and SA-7 missiles were being sought out, and where the cache of weapons had disappeared, also point to Syria. Those are the same weapons that would be used to bring down Assad’s jets and helicopters, and would also be used to destroy tanks.

Yet in order to fully solve this puzzle, we have to be able to place the Libyan opposition and al-Qaeda in Syria. After all, we have just determined that the weapons cache would be used in Syria against Assad, by these very same rebels. After we place the rebels in Syria, we also have to place the weapons that disappeared, in Syria.

Ruth Sherlock of The Telegraph, was on the ground in Idlib province in Syria, and according to her, when she asked the leader of the Free Syria Army (FSA) who the fighters were in Syria, he identified them as Libyans.

“Libyans”, muttered the rebel Free Syria Army leader under his breath, shooting the men a dirty look. “We don’t want these extremist people here. Look at them; we didn’t have this style in Syria – who is this? Bin Laden?” The Telegraph reported in this article.

After we place the weapons in Syria, the cover-up McCain was talking about will begin to make sense. Part 3. Continue to the cover-up alluded to by McCain>>

Pt.1 Was Chris Stevens linked to a Benghazi Fast and Furious?

Barack Obama

Newscast Media WASHINGTON, D.C—The Benghazi murder of US Ambassador Chris Stevens refuses to go away. The more the administration evades questions on the subject, the more people hypothesize what took place and why it happened. There are several theories floating around as to why Chris Stevens was killed. All theories will be explored in a three-part series, including an analysis by this writer.

The controversy stems from the untimely death of Chris Stevens who was stationed in Libya. How, we should ask, did Chris Stevens end up in Benghazi?

It all started when Stevens attended Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s meeting in Paris on Monday night March 14, 2011 with representatives of the Libyan opposition, as did U.S. Ambassador to Libya Gene Cretz, who has also had contacts with the opposition. Stevens was thereafter assigned to Benghazi by Hillary Clinton as reported by ABC News.

Christopher Steven had also converted to Islam and was a Sufi Muslim, something the media neglects to report. He therefore felt comfortable accepting the job in a predominantly Muslim country like Libya. Now that we have established how Stevens ended up in Libya, the next question we should ask is, “What went wrong?”

There are several theories that I will tackle on an individual basis. The first theory was floated by the White House upon his death, which was, Chris Stevens died as a result of a YouTube amateur video. This first theory should be rejected, since there is no evidence linking the video to Chris Stevens’ murder, and it has already been proven that his assassination had been planned in advance.

The second theory is that Chris Stevens died because the administration was kept in the dark, therefore they had no time to rescue him. Again, this theory is not only erroneous but also misleading, as we have now found out through emails released by CBS News, that the White House was receiving real-time intel about the Benghazi attack. Accordingly, this theory may not be considered, and must also be rejected.

The third theory is that Christopher Stevens was a closet homosexual and when Muslims found out about his sexual orientation, he was raped then killed. This theory originated from the Chicago gay district, thereafter the story went viral.

Kevin DuJan, a gay radio and TV commentator on politics in Chicago said, “I was told by friends in the City’s protocol office to go over to the Second Story Bar in downtown Chicago, just off Michigan Avenue, because it’s where a lot of gay guys who work for both the city and the consulates go after work…The Serbian consulate employee identified himself to me as “Dino” and wouldn’t give me any more of a name than that, but told me it was no secret that Chris Stevens was gay and that “it was stupid to send him to Libya as the ambassador when he was a known homosexual,”" as he details his findings on his blog.

Iran MP: Hezbollah drone has intel on secret Israeli sites

The operation, code-named Hussein Ayub, saw Hezbollah's drone fly hundreds of kilometers into Israeli airspace. Photo courtesy Press TV

Newscast Media TEHRAN—A senior Iranian lawmaker says the Islamic Republic is in possession of intelligence on Israeli secret sites obtained by Hezbollah’s Iranian-developed drone Ayub, which recently flew over occupied Palestinian territories.

“These aircraft transmit their images online and we are now in possession of the images of [Israeli] restricted areas,” Deputy Head of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Esmail Kowsari said in an interview with Al-Alam on Sunday.

Hezbollah recently sent a radar-evading drone deep into the Israeli airspace. The operation, code-named Hussein Ayub, saw Hezbollah’s drone fly hundreds of kilometers into the Israeli airspace and get very close to Dimona nuclear plant without being detected by advanced Israeli and US radars, Hezbollah Secretary
General Nasrallah said during a televised speech on October 11.

The Iranian lawmaker further expressed confidence that Hezbollah
is in possession of aircraft more advanced than Ayub.

Kowsari reiterated that Iran has the technology to build armed unmanned aircrafts. On Sunday, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said Iran currently has unmanned aerial vehicles that are far more advanced than the drone recently flown by Hezbollah in the Israeli regime’s airspace.

The technology of Hezbollah’s Iranian-made drone was not “Iran’s latest technology,” Vahidi said. On October 14, Vahidi confirmed that Ayub had been developed by Iran.

It is obvious that Iran’s ability to penetrate Israel undetected with an inferior drone was a “message job” to Israel, that the Islamic Republic is much more advanced technologically in electronic warfare. This is also meant to make Benjamin Netanyahu think twice about attacking Iran.

Tracking Sandy–projected path of the monster storm

Projected path of Sandy

Newscast Media BOSTON, Ma—As Sandy continues to pound the Atlantic Basin, up-to-the-minute storm advisories are being sent out to residents to flee and find safety in shelters or dry ground that isn’t prone to this particular storm.

“I think all our mothers taught us, if you could avoid it, don’t be stupid. So don’t be stupid…get out…and go to higher safer grounds,” Governor Chris Christie warned New Jersey residents who wanted to display bravado and ride out the storm.

According to the Weather Channel, Hurricane Sandy churned North on Monday, raking ghost-town cities along the Northeast corridor with rain and wind gusts. Subways and schools were closed across the region of 50 million people, the floor of the New York Stock Exchange was deserted, and thousands fled inland to await the storm’s fury.

As the storm closed in on the mid-Atlantic coast, it washed away an old section of the world-famous Atlantic City Boardwalk and left most of the city’s emptied-out streets under water. Its projected path put New York City and Long Island in the danger zone for a huge surge of seawater made more fearsome by high tides and a full moon.

“The days ahead are going to be very difficult,” Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley said. “There will be people who die and are killed in this storm.”

Hurricane Sandy originated from the Caribbean and is headed for Canada where it is supposed to be re-categorized from a Tropical Storm to a Tropical Depression.

Texas voting machines switch votes from the Romney-Obama ticket to the Obama-Biden ticket

Newscast Media AUSTIN, Texas—A news alert just came in from the Republican Party of Texas about voting machines that have switched votes from the Romney-Ryan ticket to the Obama-Biden ticket or the Green Party.

RPT Chairman Steve Munisteri wrote: “We have verified at least two instances in the state of Texas where an electronic voting machine did not correctly register the vote that the voter marked. In one instance, the person voted for Romney/Ryan, and the voting machine registered Obama/Biden. In another instance, the person voted straight Republican ticket, and the voting machine registered straight Green Party ticket. In both instances, the voter caught the mistake and reported it to the Election Judge, and the voter was able to vote the way they wanted.”

The Republican Party of Texas believes that these weird occurrences could be as a result of “miscalibration” of the voting machines. If you’re a candidate in such a tight race, your prayer is that the machines continue to miscalibrate in your favor.

The entire message from the Republican Party of Texas is here.

Early voting in Texas is already taking place, and below are the names of individuals that may be contacted by phone or email in regard to voting irregularities. The officials are mostly Republican, because it is only Republican voters whose votes are being switched. Democrat voters aren’t having any vote-switching problems.

New York Times blocked by China for revealing politician’s wealth

China blocks NY Times

Newscast Media NEW YORK—The Chinese government has blocked searches related to the New York Times Web site, after the paper revealed that in the past two decades, Premier Wen Jiabao’s family had accumulated wealth valued at $2.7 billion.

The man who Chinese people came to know as “Grandpa Wen” because he gave the impression he was just a common man like everybody else, yet in fact he was a billionaire, has campaigned against corruption and heads the Communist Party’s reformist wing.

Embarrassed by the revelations, two weeks before elections in China take place, the government now blames the media and says journalists are out to smear China for ulterior motives.

The New York Times also reports that Prime Minister Wen’s wife, Zhang Beili, is richissima, and that she has helped control the nation’s jewelry and gem trade, of which she has flourishing diamond businesses. However, those who know her say that she dresses very modestly so as not to exude glamor, and prefers to remain behind the scenes.

The offensive article to China by the New York Times can be found in the link below:

The Times lists details of the immediate and extended family members of Wen, including the market value of their investments.

This creates a particularly difficult situation for voters who are seeking information about the candidate Wen supports who will replace the prime minister a fortnight from now, since anything connected to Wen and his associates is blocked in China.

Latino turnout could help Barack Obama in the general

At the Annual Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Gala - Photo by Joseph Earnest

by Napp Nazwarth

Newscast Media HOUSTON, Texas—If President Barack Obama wins re-election, Latino voter turnout may be a key factor. Latinos were a big part of Obama’s base in 2008 and comprise large portions of the electorate in some key swing states.

Obama recognizes this as well. In an interview this week with The Des Moines Register, he said, “Should I win a second term, a big reason I will win a second term is because the Republican nominee and the Republican Party have so alienated the fastest-growing demographic group in the country, the Latino community.”

Among the current swing states this election cycle, Latinos make up a large part to the electorate in four of them: Colorado, Florida, Nevada and Virginia. Additionally, New Mexico was considered a swing state in 2000 and 2004, but now leans Democratic in large part to the growing Latino population. Together, those states have 62 of the 270 electoral votes needed to win the election.

According to a report released this week by the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO), the share of the Latino vote is projected to be 8.7 percent in Colorado (a 15 percent increase from 2008) and 18.3 percent in Florida (a 34.5 percent increase from 2008). In Nevada, Latinos are 13.5 percent of all registered voters.

In 2008, Obama won 67 percent of the Latino vote. He could surpass that this year. A September Pew Research Center poll showed Obama with 69 percent support among Latino registered voters and a Latino Decisions poll this week showed Obama with the support of 71 percent of the Latino community. Further, the Latino Decisions poll showed that more Latinos (40 percent) said they were more enthusiastic about voting this year than they were in 2008, than Latinos who said they were more enthusiastic in 2008 (32 percent).

There had been some concern that the Latino vote would be depressed this year because Obama had not pushed for immigration reform as he promised during his 2008 campaign and deportations of undocumented immigrants increased under Obama. That changed, though, after Obama’s “Dream” decision this summer, which appears to have energized Latino voters. Obama announced that unauthorized immigrants who were brought to the country as minors, have no criminal record and have either graduated high school, obtained a GED or served in the military, would not be deported.

All the fuss about Romney closing the gap on women’s vote

Michelle Obama and Ann Romney

Newscast Media AUSTIN, Texas—Virtually every media outlet is pretending to be surprised that Romney has closed the gap on the women’s vote from a 16-point deficit to leveling the numbers with Obama. The current polls show both candidates tied at 47-47 percentage points, as pundits and media analysts try to explain the dynamics behind the poll shift.

The explanation is simple—Mitt Romney was never behind by 16 points and media outlets are now trying to hold on to credibility by finally releasing these new poll numbers because their internal polls all along, showed something different. If they now have the numbers tied, it wouldn’t be surprising that Romney is actually ahead. There can be no other explanation as to why Romney started leading only two weeks ago, other than the fact that the media realizes how foolish they will look once the voters prove their numbers false on election day.

Poll manipulation happens when one party is oversampled to make the that party’s numbers look attractive. This NBC poll on page two (2) shows an oversampling of Democrats in September by almost 10 percentage points.

An interesting video by bestselling author and political analyst Dick Morris shows how a false perception of Romney that was painted by Obama before the debates, may also be a factor in this poll shift, after voters realized Romney wasn’t the monster he was portrayed to be in the ads. Dick Morris also explains the similarities between Obama vs. Romney in 2012 and Carter vs. Reagan in 1980.

The comments are particularly interesting below the video, since they show what the non-media practitioners make of all this.

Texas Attorney General to UN Observers: Stay Away From Texas

Texas Capitol

Newscast Media AUSTIN, Texas—True to the saying: “Don’t Mess With Texas”, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott has warned UN election observers not to come to Texas polling stations or they may face criminal prosecution for violating state law, as stipulated in the Texas Election Code, regarding foreigners.

In a defiant letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the AG wrote:”As you know, Texas election laws govern anyone who participates in Texas elections. The fact that representatives of the United States joined the U.S.S.R, Yugoslavia, Romania, and other OSCE member-nations in signing a document at a 1989 conference in Copenhagen has absolutely no bearing on the administration of elections or laws governing elections in the State of Texas.

“In addition to my desire to defend and enforce Texas election laws, I am also concerned that an unnecessary political agenda may have infected OSCE’s election monitoring activities.

“While we welcome international visitors who wish to engage in a legitimate information exchange, we have no interest in being lectured by the OSCE about how best to conduct the State of Texas’ business.”
Attorney General Abbott added: “I’m particularly offended that the European organization seems to be working with American groups tied to ACORN — a community coalition accused of voter fraud.”

The letter from the OSCE suggests that the international group can circumvent Texas election law by gaining unfettered access to Texas’ polling locations. That appears to violate Texas law which prevents unauthorized persons from entering a polling place, or loitering within 100 feet of a polling place’s entrance-on Election Day. OSCE monitors are not granted an exception to Texas law.

The entire letter to Hillary Clinton can be downloaded here.

Should the UN election observers ignore the warning from the AG, one thing they will find out very quickly is that Texas is a whole different country, and extremely protective of the Republic of Texas, unlike most of the other states in the US.

The UN together with Amnesty International have on several past occasions tried to intervene in death penalty cases that involved foreign nationals committing crimes against Texans and have failed.

This showdown between Texas and the UN is certainly something the Attorney General Greg Abbott and Texas Governor Rick Perry are used to.

The AG has also been busy on Twitter sending out the following tweets:

Planet-X and other doomsday prophecy hoaxes on the rise

Planet X

Newscast Media WASHINGTON, D.C.—Some call it Wormwood, others refer to it as Nibiru, while some use the name Planet X, to cast fear and confusion upon the gullible. The Planet X hoax peddlers believe that thousands of years ago, an intelligent civilization existed on earth, and the inhabitants were called the Anunnaki who came from a planet called Nibiru. This of course is a derivative of Sumerian mythology.

However, there are those who believe this so-called Planet X is headed our way and its magnetic field will interfere with the earth’s, causing a polar shift in which the North pole will switch places with the South, and life as we know it will come to an end on December 21. The people who peddle these lies are the same who falsely predicted there was a comet called Elenin that would collide with earth in November 2011 and end our civilization, and also did the same in regard to Y2K.

Despite being unable to produce scientific proof to substantiate such absurd claims, the Planet X groupies continue to spread their message of fear and are even advising people on how to survive the alleged impending doom. Plant life, we are told, will cease to exist. There will be great chaos as neighbors turn against each other in search of food. Only those secured in underground bunkers will survive, according to them. Let’s just say they are right about the “pole shift” why would anyone want to be underground when the earth is twisting and grinding as the poles shift to opposite ends? Their arguments are contradictory and fallacious.

NASA has a lot to say about the doomsday prophets. Don Yeomans, a senior research scientist for NASA said, “There apparently is a great deal of interest in celestial bodies, and their locations and trajectories at the end of the calendar year 2012. Now, I for one love a good book or movie as much as the next guy. But the stuff flying around through cyberspace, TV and the movies is not based on science. There is even a fake NASA news release out there…”

The NASA website even has a FAQ section that addresses whether or not the world will end in December 2012.

Neil deGrass Tyson an astrophysics at the American Museum of Natural History, explains succinctly how the Planet X rumors about the world ending in December 2012 are a hoax.

This article is just to caution the readers not to be duped by scammers whose only motive is to make money by selling you their 2012 survival kits.

CBS uncovers the truth and emails behind Benghazi-gate

Barack Obama

Newscast Media WASHINGTON, D.C.—CBS News has stunned the mainstream media by releasing emails showing the Obama administration was aware that the Benghazi attacks were conducted by terrorists. In the emails, there is no mention of a Mohammed video or demonstrations getting out of hand. This revelation is very unusual considering how the mainstream media is extremely protective of Barack Obama.

In an article we published last week, CBS journalist Lara Logan criticized the Obama administration for its misleading statements about the terrorist attack on the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi, Libya, that led to the deaths of Chris Stevens and three other Americans. She also criticized the media who cover terrorism for not paying attention to what terrorists are saying about America.

“Our way of life is under attack. And if you think that is government propaganda, if you think that’s nonsense, if you think that’s war-mongering, you’re not listening to what the people who are fighting you say about this fight,” Logan said emphatically.

“In your arrogance, you think you write the script, but you don’t. There’s two sides and we don’t dictate the terms,” she added.

CBS has obtained emails in which the State Department, in one if its emails, has the subject line: “Ansar al-Sharia Claims Responsibility for Benghazi Attack”

The body of the email reads: “Embassy Tripoli reports the group claimed responsibility on Facebook and Twitter and has called for an attack on Embassy Tripoli.”

The State Department sent these emails out on September 11, the same day the attacks happened.

Click here to read or download the emails.

The Obama administration initially claimed the attacks were triggered by a YouTube video, while Mitt Romney called them terrorist attacks. After pressure from the media and the public, the administration upgraded them to terror attacks. Whether or not this will have an impact on the election remains to be seen.

Homosexual group now endorses Mitt Romney for president

Mitt Romney

by Paul Stanley

Newscast Media HOUSTON, Texas—The Log Cabin Republicans, a gay group that aligns itself with the GOP and espouses conservative fiscal policies while supporting same-sex marriage and an anti-discrimination platform, has endorsed Mitt Romney for president.

“The decision to endorse is the right one for our members, our community, and for the nation as a whole,” said Log Cabin Republicans Executive Director R. Clarke Cooper in a written statement Tuesday. “Despite our disagreement with Governor Romney on the issue of marriage, on balance it is clear that in today’s economic climate, concern for the future of our country must be the highest priority.

The group becomes the second Republican organization that supports gay rights to endorse Romney. In June, GOProud extended its support to the Republican nominee before the party’s August convention.

However, the group has come under attack from homosexual activists such as Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) who said last week the group is nothing more than an “Uncle Tom” of the GOP and he is not backing down from his strong statement.

“They are no more offended than I am by their campaigning in the name of LGBT rights, to elect the candidate and party who diametrically oppose our rights, against a President who has forcefully and effectively supported our rights,” said Frank, one of four openly gay members of Congress in a 1,000-plus word column that has since been removed from his House website.

“I have been hearing the Log Cabin Republicans proclaim for years that they were improving the view of that party towards our legal equality,” said Frank, adding that things have only gotten worse. “Most recently, on [the Defense of Marriage Act], when the House Republicans offered an amendment to reaffirm it, they voted 98 percent in favor of it, while Democrats voted more than 90 percent against the amendment.”

Frank’s tough words caught the attention of R. Clarke Cooper, the executive director of the Log Cabin Republicans, who defended the group’s actions in supporting the politics of Romney and Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), the vice presidential nominee. Cooper referred to the retiring congressman as a “partisan hack.”

The marriage issue, like abortion, are examples of two volatile issues where Romney has found himself on both sides of the fence.

When he was campaigning for the U.S. Senate against the late Massachusetts Sen. Ted Kennedy (D) in 1994, Romney made statements supporting same-sex marriage and said he was pro-choice. He now says marriage should be “between a man and a woman,” and that abortion should only be allowed in cases of rape, incest or when the mother’s life is in danger.

A leading national evangelical leader who asked not to be identified and supports Romney, offered a pragmatic analysis of where he sees the former Massachusetts governor going if he is elected president on Nov. 6.

“I believe a President Romney will stand his ground on abortion absent the exceptions he supports,” they said. “However, my prediction is that he will bend to social and political pressure when it comes to marriage and defending the Defense of Marriage Act and other related legislative bills. Again, this is my prediction, not my wish.”

Republican legislators who support same-sex marriage such as Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Florida are excited about the Log Cabin endorsement. “Romney is the right man for our time,” she said. “I am pleased that Log Cabin Republicans is endorsing Governor Romney. I know that all of us together will fight for equality for all Americans, regardless of race, gender or sexual orientation.”

Democratic Republic of Congo asks South Africa to intervene in East

Newscast Media PRETORIA—The Democratic Republic of Congo has asked South Africa to intervene in the eastern region where Rwanda and Uganda have been accused by a UN leaked report of supporting the rebels. Meeting his South African counterpart Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, Congolese Foreign Minister Raymond Tshibanda relied on the close relationship both countries share to confront the challenges DR Congo faces.

“I am referring here to the security in the eastern DRC where we hope to arrive at specific results with the help of South Africa,” Tshibanda said in the South African capital Pretoria, without giving any more details.

Meanwhile, the M23 Movement, which is an extension of the M23 rebel group, has formed a semi autonomous administration structure in areas under their control in north Kivu province.

The UN on the other hand, said it will continue its work in the embattled country, as it helps fight and contain the Ebola outbreak. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (GOARN) have deployed experts to support operational response, including establishment of a field laboratory and in the area of infection prevention and control in health care settings.

The tumultuous situation escalated in DR Congo after member states walked away from the Lusaka Agreement, that many thought would result in a cease-fire. Many Congolese refugees in the past decade have migrated to western Uganda, while others to the Central African Republic located between Uganda, Sudan and Chad.

Foreign policy debate a time-waster: economy proved vital

Romney and Obama

Newscast Media HOUSTON, Texas—As predicted, the last debate would be a time-waster, and it was. It will not reverse the momentum of the race. What mattered the most were the closing statements of the candidates. Again, the contrasts were strong between which of the two candidates had a future plan.

When people drive to work on Tuesday morning and fill their gas tanks, those who believe the gas prices are lower today than they were four years ago, will see the economy as favorable, and vote for a continuation of the current economy.

As for the demeanor of the two candidates, Romney’s handlers said he intentionally restrained himself, because he knew the Obama’s strategy was to get him into a mud fight and paint him as a warmonger. He refused to take that bait by re-litigating the subject. In the end he succeeded in looking presidential and thoughtful when he avoided the petty squabbles throughout the debate.

Obama closed by saying, “…And Governor Romney wants to take us back to those policies: a foreign policy that’s wrong and reckless; economic policies that won’t create jobs, won’t reduce our deficit, but will make sure that folks at the very top don’t have to play by the same rules that you do.

“You know, we’ve been through tough times, but we always bounce back because of our character, because we pull together. And if I have the privilege of being your president for another four years, I promise you I will always listen to your voices, I will fight for your families and I will work every single day to make sure that America continues to be the greatest nation on earth.”

Romney’s last words were, “…One is a path represented by the president, which, at the end of four years, would mean we’d have $20 trillion in debt, heading towards Greece. I’ll get us on track to a balanced budget. The president’s path will mean continuing declining in take-home pay. I want to make sure our take-home pay turns around and starts to grow. The president’s path means 20 million people out of work struggling for a good job. I’ll get people back to work with 12 million new jobs. I’m going to make sure that we get people off of food stamps not by cutting the program but by getting them good jobs.

“We need strong leadership. I’d like to be that leader, with your support. I’ll work with you. I’ll lead you in an open and honest way. And I ask for your vote. I’d like to be the next president of the United States to support and help this great nation, and to make sure that we all together maintain America as the hope of the earth.”

Newspapers endorse their favorite presidential candidates

Romney and Obama

by Anugrah Kumar

Newscast Media HOUSTON, Texas—Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has secured newspaper endorsements in the major swing states of Ohio and Florida. Newspapers in other states have also announced their support for the former Massachusetts governor.

The Columbus Dispatch in Ohio and The Tampa Tribune in Florida on Sunday recommended voting for Romney. The Dispatch endorsed Romney a day after Ohio’s Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper threw its support behind President Barack Obama. Dealer had endorsed Obama also in 2008. Akron Beacon Journal also backed Obama.

In an editorial, the Dispatch wrote that voters trusted the inexperienced Obama in 2008 and elevated him to the White House, but “that faith was not rewarded.”

“This time, voters should place their hopes for change in experience, by electing Romney,” said the newspaper in Ohio, which has 18 electoral votes.

The Dispatch also said the Republican nominee’s “election would be an immediate signal to the private sector that someone who knows what he is doing is managing the nation’s economic policy.”

In Florida – which has 29 electoral votes – Orlando Sentinel also endorsed the GOP challenger, after supporting Obama in 2008. The endorsements for Romney came after Tampa Bay Times said it would back Obama as it did in 2008.

The Tribune wrote, “Just as we warned four years ago, this master orator has pushed America toward a European-style social democracy. We don’t question Obama’s motives. The president sincerely believes in the inviolable ability of the federal government to make all things right. But Americans should see that this top-down approach doesn’t work.”

Comparing the two candidates, the Florida newspaper said Romney would “capitalize on individuals’ ingenuity, not Washington directives.”

The latest Fox poll in Florida had Romney with 48 percent support and Obama with 45 percent. Obama will tour Ohio and Florida for campaign events after the final presidential debate in Florida, to be held on Monday.

Star-Telegram in Texas, The Arizona Republic in Ariz., the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review in Pa., and New Hampshire Union Leader in N.H. also endorsed Romney on Sunday. The Tribune-Review wrote that Romney is an “exceptionally good and decent man who is a proven leader, administrator and deft politician.”

“We believe the nation’s best opportunity to escape the compounding woes of spiraling debt and economic stagnation lies with a president who believes in the free market’s capacity to heal its own wound, the Republic said in its editorial.

The Leader wrote that “Romney offers a better way, a realistic way, to restore American prosperity.”

On the other hand, Los Angeles Times in Calif., Arizona Daily Star in Ariz., and Santa Fe New Mexican in N.M. have endorsed Obama.

CNN: Mitt Romney may already have won the presidency

Mitt Romney and Barack Obama

Newscast Media ATLANTA, Ga—There is reason to believe that Monday’s debate will have no impact on the voters and the election may be over. For the very first time in Obama’s political career, he is running against a formidable competitor, who is determined so utterly, to win this presidential election. As I described him in the GOP primary, Mitt Romney is now a runaway train that started out as an experiment four years ago, and now the specimen has stepped out of the lab and cannot be stopped.

CNN earlier in the week expressed disappointment in Barack Obama and said, “Mitt Romney may have already won this election: Even if the president has a strong performance tonight, he failed us on the economy, failed us in Libya, failed us in Denver.” See complete state-by-state forecast model >>

North Korea vows to punish South Korea mercilessly with its military

Newscast Media PYONGYANG—The North Korean army threatened Friday to carry out a “merciless military strike” against South Korea next week, in a serious escalation of cross-border tensions. The Korean People’s Army (KPA) vowed to initiate the strike if a group of North Korean defectors now living in the South went ahead with plans to scatter propaganda leaflets next Monday from balloons floated over the border.

“The moment a minor movement for the scattering is captured… a merciless military strike by the Western Front will be put into practice without warning,” the KPA said in a statement carried on the official Korean Central News Agency.

Residents in and around the area where the activists plan to launch their balloons should “evacuate in anticipation of possible damage. The surrounding area will become targets of direct firing of the KPA,” the statement said, adding: “The KPA never makes empty talk.”

South Korea vows it will not leave the threat unanswered, saying it would return fire.

“If (a North Korean strike) were to happen, there would be a perfect response against the source of the attack,” Defense Minister Kim Kwan-jin told a parliamentary committee, Reuters reported.

Korean Central News Agency also warned inhabitants of the border region to leave the area of Imjingak “in anticipation of possible damage.”
