Newscast Media LAGOS, Nigeria –Nigerian officials report that young Nigerian girls are being forced to work as prostitutes in neighboring Mali slave camps. Many of the girls in these sex camps are under age, and have often been promised jobs in Europe, only to end up in brothels.
The brothels are run by older Nigerian women who prevent them from leaving and take all their earnings. The Nigerian government said it was working with Malian police to free the girls and help them return to Nigeria. There has been no official comment from the Mali authorities.
Nigeria’s National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons (Naptip) said officials visited Mali this month to follow up “horrendous reports” from victims, aid workers and clergy in Mali. They said there were hundreds of brothels, each housing up to 200 girls, run by Nigerian “madams” who force them to work against their will and take their earnings.
“We are talking of thousands and thousands of girls,” Simon Egede, Executive Secretary of Naptip, told a news conference in Abuja.
“We are talking of certainly between 20,000 and about 40,000,” he said, but did not give details of how the figure had been reached.
The trade is centred around the capital Bamako and large cities, but the most notorious brothels are in the mining towns of Kayes and Mopti, where the sex workers live in near slavery conditions. Many were lured with the promise of work in Europe, given fake travel documents and made to swear an oath that they would not tell anyone where they were going. On arrival in Mali they were told they would have to work as prostitutes to pay off their debts. Prostitution is legal in Mali but not if it involves minors.
Naptip said it had also uncovered two major trafficking routes used to transport the women from Nigeria through Benin, Niger or Bukina Faso to Mali.
The ring is ran by older women who skillfully trick younger women into becoming prostitutes, then retain all their earnings. http://newscastmedia.com/nigeriansexslaves.htm
Newscast Media — In June I wrote an article that showed polls indicating the public distrusts the mainstream media and trusts social media more. A new study has now been released that shows the public distrust of the media has peaked.
Since Gallup began gathering data only 43 percent have a fair amount or a great deal of trust in the media, which is the lowest ever rating according to Gallup. Forty-eight percent believe the media is too liberal while only 15 percent of find that it tilts too conservative. Just 33 percent believe coverage is “just about right.”
Fifty-nine percent of Democrats have significantly more trust in the media, and who indicate the news to be reported fairly while just 32 percent of Republicans said the same. The survey of 1,019 adults was conducted Sept. 13-16 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
Newscast Media DALLAS, TX –Dallas police stepped up their efforts to catch a man impersonating a U.S. marshal Tuesday by releasing a new photo of the suspect. The photo, taken by a motorist, showed the man armed with black semi-automatic handgun.
The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. The photo was taken about 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 19 when a motorist saw the suspect conducting a traffic stop in an unmarked, black four-door car at Lemmon and Wycliff avenues.
The motorist began following the suspect after the traffic stop, trying to get a license plate number, Dallas police said Tuesday. The suspect’s car stopped in the 3700 block of Rawlins Street and the suspect exited his vehicle, confronted the motorist and told him that “I am a U.S. Marshal.”
At about that time, the suspect brandished the handgun with a laser sight and pointed it at the motorist’s head. Within seconds, the suspect walked back to his car and drove away, Dallas police said. Dallas police are looking for any motorists that the suspect may have pulled over that morning at Lemmon and Wycliff avenues.
Authorities described the suspect as a white man about 30 years-old, about 190 pounds, 5-foot-11 with brown hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information should call Dallas police at 214-671-3616.
Newscast Media — Costa Rican fisherman Chito has an unsual friend named “Pocho” a seventeen foot crocodile that Chito plays with like a pet. Chito found the crocodile in a wounded state with a gunshot wound, and nursed Pocho over 20 years ago.
Since then, the two have become inseparable. Chito and Pocho now entertain tourists with tricks the crocodile learned from Chito. Newscast Media — Due to shortages of a drug used in the execution of death row inmates, the U.S prison system has been forced to delay a number of executions until more drugs for lethal injections are obtained.
A good example is the state of Oklahoma in which two convicted murderers are scheduled to die next month, but only one dose of Sodium Thiopental is available. Sodium Thiopental is an anaesthetic that is used to render condemned prisoners unconscious shortly before their death. It is used in 35 of the 50 US states,
usually as the first of three drugs in the lethal injection process. One dose of the drug for this use is 1.5 grams. Pancuronium Bromide then paralyses the condemned person’s muscles and stops their breathing, while Potassium Chloride stops the heart. Two states, Ohio and Washington, have carried out executions by injecting just sodium thiopental in a 5-gram dose.
The drug is produced by just one pharmaceutical company, Illinois-based Hospira. It says production problems in sourcing raw materials mean none will be available until at least January. Across the country 17 lethal injections are scheduled before then. Other states about to run out include California, Kentucky and Arizona.
Alternative drugs are not an option for many states as their execution methods were established following lengthy court proceedings. Using a different drug would lead to appeals by prisoners. http://www.newscastmedia.com/lethalinjections.htm

Newscast Media –Oklahoma will become the first state in the nation to impose a ban on Sharia law, when Oklahoma residents vote on November 2, on the State Question 755, the “Save Our State” constitutional amendment that would prohibit state courts from considering Islamic Sharia law in making rulings.
The measure however, has its critics despite passing with an overwhelming majority. Critics insist that xenophobia is the root of the amendment and believe supporters of the measure are using scare tactics to make Islam objectionable.
Rep. Cory Williams (D-OK), who was one of the 12 lawmakers to oppose the measure, said, “If I was a Muslim Oklahoman, I would be offended by my religion being singled out.” Ironically, to defend against such claims, Republican lawmakers insist that the bill protects the courts from being hijacked by the people we are “at war” with:
Rep. Rex Duncan, R-Sand Springs, said he authored the legislation
that spurred the ballot measure because he argues Sharia law
provisions that are practiced in some countries — such as the
unequal treatment of women — run in contrast with American
principles. Although he is not aware of any Oklahoma courts
making decisions based on Sharia law, he said actions by other
countries and isolated events in the United States show this is a
growing threat and action needs to be taken before it reaches
“This effort is all about protecting our court system from being
hijacked by an ideology that does not have America’s long-term
future in mind,” he said. “Our courts ought to follow American
federal and state law, and there is no logical reason why a court
would look to the law of France or Saudi Arabia.”[...]
Rep. Lewis Moore, R-Arcadia, said he views the criticism against the
state questions as unfounded. He said Sharia law is a threat to the
country that needs to be addressed.
“Are we not at war with this ideology?” he asked. “Are we not
at war with them? Then why would we give in to this?”
Many Republican candidates have also adopted anti-Sharia fear-mongering as a campaign tool, including Tennessee’s Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey (R), Tennessee House candidate Vijay Kumar (R), and Minnesota House candidate Lynne Torgerson (I). http://newscastmedia.com/sharia-law.htm
Newscast Media — In an effort to gain seats in both the House and Senate, the GOP has promised to bring an end to a number of Democratic policies and restore Americans’ trust in the government. With the “Pledge to America” Republicans are pledging to take back the country, restore a better future, slash taxes and spending, as well as repeal Barack Obama’s healthcare law and end his stimulus program.
House Republicans unveiled their 21-page document they say will guide them and help them reclaim the majority of seats in the November midterm elections.
The Tea Party has undeniably had an impact on the way the GOP conducts politics, and many incumbents realize that ignoring their constituents comes with a price. The pledge is a move by the GOP to prove to the grassroots that they are now paying attention.
Democrats have dismissed the “Pledge to America” as recycled ideas that would worsen the nation’s crisis. Nadeam Elshami, a spokesman for Nancy Pelosi said, “Republicans want to return to the same failed economic policies that hurt millions of Americans and threatened our economy.”
Rep. Pete Sessions of Texas, the head of Republicans’ House campaign committee, said, “A number of people are very cynical about the reliability and the sincerity of either party. We’ve put things on a sheet of paper.” http://newscastmedia.com/pledge-to-america.htm
Newscast Media — David Beckham is taking legal action against a US magazine that published allegations claiming the footballer paid a whore $10, 000 a night for sex.
In a statement, his representatives said the claims were “completely untrue and totally ridiculous, as the magazine was clearly told before publication”.
“Sadly we live in a world where a magazine can print lies and believe they can get away with it.”
Last year, Beckham accepted libel damages from the Daily Star newspaper after it claimed he had made advances towards a model.
The US magazine at the center of this controversy is InTouch magazine. The magazine alleged that Davide Beckham slept with an escort known only as Miss Nici in a New York hotel room in 2007. The gossip magazine has further reported that Miss Nici flew in to London a month later to render her services to the sportstar.
“We had great chemistry,” she told InTouch. “I’ve seen quite a few high-profile people. He isn’t full of himself. He’s a really nice guy.”
Beckham, married for 11 years, has been a regular target of attempts to portray him as a philanderer, ever since the tabloid scandal of 2004 when Rebecca Loos, his former personal assistant, claimed to have had an affair with him while he was playing for Real Madrid. http://newscastmedia.com/beckham-sues.htm
Newscast Media — There is no doubt that Bishop Eddie Long is one of the most prominent preachers in the black community, but now he is facing a battle to redeem his reputation and testimony in the wake of the sexual allegations from members of his congregation.
The embattled preacher is being accused by two men who have alleged that they were sexually coerced by one of the most prominent Baptist pastors in the Atlanta area, Eddie Long. The suits were filed on Tuesday in DeKalb County, Georgia, and state that they were coerced by Long into performing a number of sexual acts. The suit said that Long made a habit out of selecting small groups of young male church members and using his authority over them to intimidate them into engaging in a sexual relationship.
The above photos were obtained by the plaintiffs’ attorney B.J. Bernstein, and in them we can see Long wearing spandex and taking pictures of himself in the bathroom. Bernstein has added she has in her possession the text messages sent by Bishop Eddie Long.
The pastor reportedly took Anthony Flagg, 21, with him on a number of overnight trips to different cities in the US. The two of them reportedly shared a bedroom on the trips and Long initiated sexual contact through coercion.
The other plaintiff, Maurice Murray Robinson, 20, was taken to Auckland and New Zealand with the pastor for his 19th birthday. Long allegedly convinced the young man to engage in sexual acts with him as well during these trips.
A spokesman for Long said that the allegations were not true, and that Long was upset that the boys would take this route in an attempt to receive money from him.
“It is unfortunate that someone has taken this course of action,” said a spokesperson for Long.
Long has yet to release a formal statement about the allegations against him, but representatives for Long have categorically denied the claims.
Two other prominent preachers dealing with a sex scandal of their own are Benny Hinn and Paula White who have vehemently denied having an affair.
On the other hand, Long’s attorney Craig Gillen said, “The photos don’t corroborate these charges. [Bishop Long] is a health advocate, he’s a weight lifter. He’s a fella, who’s gonna go to work and he’s gonna have on a muscle shirt. And you know he may show up in church in a muscle shirt. There’s nothing really in those photographs that seems to me corroborative of these allegations.”
It makes one wonder why a prominent preacher like Long would risk ruining his reputation by taking photographs like these and sending them to young males. http://newscastmedia.com/bishop-eddie-long.htm

Newscast Media –For the fifth consecutive session, gold hit a record high after the Federal Reserve signalled it was on the verge of injecting fresh cash into the economy, which knocked the dollar as investors shifted to gold.
American Eagle Gold Bullion Coins made by the US Mint and have a higher resale value, as for gold bars, PAMP Suisse gold bullion bars made by the PAMP Mint, are the way to go.
Several people purchase gold for different reasons. If one is looking at investing, one should stay away from the Numismatic coins which are traditionally for collectors and would sell for about one third of the purchase price.
Another precious metal that gained traction is Silver, which also hit a 2-1/2 year peak and edged closer to its highest in 30 years as investors sought cheaper safe-haven assets, which was reflected in the largest one-day inflow of metal into the iShares Silver Trust in 10 months.
Spot gold hit a new record of $1,296.10 an ounce and was bid at $1,293.75 an ounce at 1357 GMT, showing a 0.6% gain on the day. U.S. gold futures rose $21.00 an ounce to $1,295.30, having hit a contract high at $1,298.00.
The metal is benefiting from concerns over the stability of the financial system and the outlook for fiat currencies. While dollar weakness, a typical driver of gold, is lifting prices, the metal’s appeal as a safe store of value has broadened.
“This is not just about the dollar any more,” said Pau Morilla-Giner, senior portfolio manager and head of alternative investments, equities and commodities at London & Capital.
“This is about any currency that is used and generated in a country with massive dislocations, an excess of sovereign debt and a weak banking system. And now, for the first time in history, all major Western currencies have that problem.” http://newscastmedia.com/goldrush.htm

Newscast Media –On an interview with Larry King that will Wednesday, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad lashed called Benjamin Netanyahu in “skilled killer” who “should be put on trial for killing women and children.” A transcript of the interview is below:
King: Prime Minister Netanyahu was recently a guest on our program and he said,
“The greatest threat facing humanity, that’s the world, is that Iran would acquire
nuclear weapons.” If Israel feels that strongly, and you don’t assure them, don’t
you fear that they might do a first strike?”
Ahmadinejad: So you think that we should be concerned about Mr. Netanyahu’s
fears and concerns?
Ahmadinejad: Why should we be doing that for him? Who is he?
King: He is the head of a country.
Ahmadinjad: Who is he in the first place to begin with? He is a skilled killer. All
dictators in the world, have condemned others, and he is one of many of them.
He should be put on trial for killing Palestinians, for placing Gaza under siege
which is against the law, against the spirit of the charter of the United Nations.
He should be put on trial for killing women and children.

“People (in Islamic countries) are against that ugly behavior,” he said. “They are not against the people of the United States. They are not against Americans, they are not against Jews. They are not against Christians or Christianity.”

Newscast Media –The FBI has advised the Seattle cartoonist who started “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day” with a satirical cartoon in support of free peech to go into hiding.
Seattle Weekly editor-in-chief Mark D. Fefer announced in Wednesday’s issue that Molly Norris’ comic would no longer appear in the paper. Fefer wrote that the FBI advised Norris to move, change her name and wipe away her identity because of a fatwa, or death sentence, issued against her this summer.
“She is, in effect, being put in a witness-protection program — except, as she notes, without the government picking up the tab,” Fefer wrote. He told The Associated Press on Thursday that he had nothing further to say because it’s a sensitive situation.
David Gomez, the FBI’s special agent in charge of counterterrorism in Seattle, told the New York Daily News in July that the agency was doing everything it could to protect individuals on a fatwa list issued by Yemeni-American cleric Anwar al-Awlaki.
Norris’ cartoon inspired a Facebook page that caught the attention of authorities in Pakistan, who banned the social networking site in response. Most Muslims regard any depiction of the prophet, even favorable ones, as blasphemous. The Facebook page encouraged people to post images of Mohammed to protest
threats against the creators of the American TV series South Park for depicting the prophet in a bear suit during an episode earlier this year.
Although the Facebook page was taken down by its creator, references to the page and to Norris’ cartoon remain online. Norris wrote in a post on her website that she meant her work only to be a commentary on the South Park controversy.
“I made a cartoon about the television show South Park being censored,” she wrote. “I never started a Facebook page. I apologize to people of Muslim faith and ask that this ‘day’ be called off.”
Norris could not be reached for comment and her Web site has been taken down.
Newscast Media VANCOUVER, Wash — A few weeks ago, a woman gained worldwide sympathy when she claimed that as she was minding her own business in a mall, and a black woman approached her and threw acid in her face. However, she came forward Thursday with a startling admission: She inflicted the attack on herself.
Vancouver police chief Clifford Cook said Bethany Storro admitted under police questioning to fabricating a story about the attack, in which she suffered severe burns. Cook said he did not know a motive for Storro’s actions, but added she is “very remorseful.” He said Storro was still being interviewed by detectives. The police chief said that “during the course of the investigation, several discrepancies began to emerge regarding the alleged attack,” leading police to search her home earlier Thursday and interview her.
“During the interview, Ms. Storro admitted the injuries were self-inflicted,” Cook said. Police had been seeking a black woman with a ponytail after Storro described the Aug. 30 attack. She had said the woman asked her, “Hey, pretty girl, want something to drink?” then threw acid in her face.
She recounted details of the alleged attack at a news conference, with her head wrapped in bandages and her parents by her side. She said she wanted to know why the unnamed assailant had attacked her.
After the incident, Storro made several media appearances, but a planned interview on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” was canceled. She said she had received correspondence from people around the world concerned for her well being. Vancouver police Commander Marla Schuman said detectives were working on a way to return any money donated to Storro. “She is extremely upset,” Schuman said. “In many ways, this got bigger than she expected.”
Schuman was asked whether Storro will face a charge of filing a false police report, to which she responded: “At this point, yes, that would certainly fit.” A telephone number for Storro’s parents, Joseph and Nancy Neuwelt, could not be located Thursday. The couple has called the alleged attack “an act of evil,” but said the family would persevere. http://newscastmedia.com/acidattack-lie.htm
Newscast Media –The long-delayed legislation was finally passed on Thursday by the Senate, that will open up credit to small businesses and award them with other incentives to expand and hire new workers.
Democrats won a 61-38 vote to pass the legislation, joined by two Republicans. The measure would establish a $30 billion government fund to help open up lending for credit-starved small businesses, cut their taxes and boost Small Business Administration loan programs.
“At a time when small business owners are still struggling to make payroll and they’re still holding off hiring, we put together a plan that would give them some tax relief and make it easier for them to take out loans,” Obama said Wednesday. The new loan fund would be available to community banks to encourage lending to small businesses. Supporters say banks should be able to use the fund to leverage up to $300 billion in loans.
The measure also would allow small business owners to deduct the costs of health insurance for themselves and their families from self-employment taxes, but only for the 2010 tax year.
Much of the bill would be paid for by allowing taxpayers to convert 401(k) and government retirement accounts into Roth accounts, in which they pay taxes up front on the money they contribute, enabling them to withdraw it tax-free after they retire. http://www.newscastmedia.com/30billionsmallbiz.htm

Newscast Media — For years, Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has attempted to convince leaders of Africa that the continent would be a lot better off with a United States Of Africa, under his leadership. In a summit held this past summer in Kampala, Uganda, Gaddafi told a small group of reporters, “I am satisfied that Africa is going along its historic and right road, one day it will become similar to the United States of America. We are approaching the formation of the African Authority, and each time we solve African problems and also move in the direction of peace and unity. We deal with problems step by step. We are continuing to do that.”
As chairman of the African Union (AU) formerly known as Organization Of African Unity (OAU) Gaddafi used his influence to fly Chiefs, Kings, Sultans, Sheiks and other tribal leaders to Libya, and convinced them to declare him ‘King of Kings’ which they did. This means if Gaddafi were to become the ruler of Africa, his sons would continue his lineage and his grandsons and so forth, giving him a sense of immortality.
Gaddafi also told traditional leaders in an address in Tripoli that once Africa becomes a single state, there would be no elections because of the corrupt nature of the election system in Africa. Many presidents in Africa don’t even bother debating the issue because it was only a few decades ago that countries fought to free themselves of colonialism, and the thought of giving up their sovereignty seems not only impractical, but they also consider the initiative in its current form as a ‘non-starter’.
The Libyan leader fancies himself to be a liberator of Africa; the continent’s wisest leader, and an intellectual in economics, politics and sociology. http://newscastmedia.com/gadaffi.htm
