Newscast Media KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany—Man's best friend is also one of the U.S. military's greatest assets. The military working dog (MWD) plays a vital role in fulfilling search and seizure missions. But to be honest, whenever one sees a military working dog, it’s difficult for one to not want to pet it. This sort of socializing is problematic and takes the dog away from its focus. Losing focus could lead the MWD to be injured, which could jeopardize the whole mission.
